Regarding the last poll, it's a bit disheartening to see that most of you still picked the "What's that?" category You'd think with all the art and polls I post about SpiritSong, my watchers would know about it by now XD

So! If you're one of the 149 deviants that answered "What's that?" to the poll, make sure you read this journal!! My goal is to, by the end of this journal, change the 59% that said "What's that?" to "Heck Yes I AM!!!" Don't worry, although SpiritSong is a large topic because of the extensive storyline, a lot of it can't be revealed due to SPOILERS. This is simply to inform and excite you



SpiritSong

Story:

In the land of Lyrica, song, music, and dance have the power to unlock the hidden potential slumbering within the human spirit. How is this possible? Each person has within them a very special tune that, when realized, has the ability to awaken their soul, giving them access to this buried power. This is called a spiritsong.

Each spiritsong is different, just as each person is different, and thus, the special abilities of a person's spirit are unique as well. Much like a superpower, a person's spiritsong can give them the ability to do things such as fly, breathe underwater, turn invisible, and run at the speed of sound. However, not many people actually come to realize this potential. As there's no way to figure out just what your awakening song is, the only people who have reached even the first level of awakening have done so purely by chance. To this day, the majority of the population knows very little about the nature of spiritsongs, much less have discovered their own.

Before time began, there have been three realms that coexist on this world. They are: Lucia; the land of light, Tera; the plane in-between, and Abyss; the realm of darkness. Because of their nature, a barrier is in place between the realms, and works to maintain balance and ensure the planes remain separate. For countless centuries, these three very different worlds lived and prospered healthily, and all went as it should. But, as things often do with time, the barrier started to thin and weaken, deteriorated from countless years of protection. Eventually, the residents of the three realms noticed this weakening, and began to investigate the "new worlds" that seemed so close to their own. They found ways to quicken the destruction of the barrier, tearing more and more holes in its walls simply to satisfy their own curiosity, not knowing the danger they were putting themselves in.

Without the barrier, the three planes, which are meant to be separate but equal, will collide, and the world will be thrust into chaos and destruction.

Now, one of the largest forces at work on destroying the barrier, a terrible organization called Mute, is seeking much more than the simple destruction of the wall between the realms. They're sweeping through city after city, robbing all of the residents of their spiritsongs in a single night. Their motives are unknown...but it's clear they have to be stopped. Problem is, the only way to fight Mute is with the skills attained in the second level of the three levels of awakening. That is, through the use of weapons called Instruments, which are manifestations of a person's spirit. Only a select few people have reached this level and become warriors known as Musicians. But even with this high level of skill, there just aren't enough of these soldiers to fight off the hordes of Mute's underworld army.

With the epidemic of Mute quickly sweeping across Lyrica, and with a severe lack of Musicians to fight them, the world seems doomed to chaos. The only thing left to give people any kind of hope is an ancient, and nearly forgotten, prophecy laid down by the legendary Oracle of Ages.

Just like the story, these short character bios have been edited heavily to prevent spoilers, and only reveal basic information I've also only included bios on the nine characters that you know the names of. Trust me, there's at least four times that amount of characters created so far XD

Alrighty, that's about it. I don't think there's anything else I can share with you guys without giving away the storyline ^_^ Hopefully, now you will all know a little bit more about my original comic, SpiritSong

Now, as for when the comic will actually be starting:

Currently I have about half of Chapter 1 thumbnailed. I'm going to try and stick to twenty page chapters (or around twenty) like most manga-ka's do. There will also be a five-page prelude before chapter 1 actually starts. That prelude has already been mapped out as well. Also, I've decided that, going along with the music theme of SpiritSong, I'm going to be calling my chapters "verses". Y'know, like musical verses? It's just another little spice I'm adding to SpiritSong to keep it more original ^_^

When the comic does start, I'll be posting it both here, as well as on maybe one or two other webcomic sites. When I do, I'll be sure to post the links where, so that if you guys see the comic anywhere else, then you can let me know so I can stop any thieving attempts.

My goal: To make SpiritSong into a hit webcomic, and then have it published as a series of manga volumes. And then who knows? An anime? A movie? Maybe even a TV series! The possibilities are endless.

With a goal like this, I'd be sure to get in on the ground floor if this epicness. So follow along and support SpiritSong as it becomes (hopefully) a great manga!!
